I talk about organizing a lot of things here on Organize 365 but my definite downfall is talking about cooking.
I don’t like to cook. I hardly like to eat.
I think the only way I’m going to be held accountable and actually get the job done is to tell everyone on the blog that I’m doing it and then the peer pressure will force me to actually do so. :0)
Slow cooker cooking.
So, my favorite kind of cooking is with a slow cooker for many reasons.
#1 I like that I can prepare multiple slow cooker meals at one time, put them in freezer bags in the freezer and then pull them out one at a time as I’m ready to heat them up.
#2 I just like warm food. I really like casseroles and pretty much anything else that you can make in a slow cooker.
#3 Cooking in a slow cooker does not take very much time and does not leave a lot of pots and pans to clean up when you’re done. It’s a very efficient way to cook both from a time perspective and an energy perspective.
This summer, I bought this cute little slow cooker trio. One of the biggest problems I have with cooking dinner is that I’m usually in the car until 4:30 or 5, and by the time we get home we are starving.
Isn’t it cute!!
So, with this little slow cooker trio I can heat up just one thing or all three things for dinner while I’m out driving around.
I also own a larger slow cooker that has three different crocks that fit in one base.
Somehow, I broke one of those, so we only have two out of the three left.
My goal is to figure out meals that will fit in these crocks and then put the crocks in the refrigerator ready to go, so that all I have to do is pull them out and put them in either of the bases in order to heat them up while I’m driving around town.
So far, I’ve accomplished buying the slow cookers. Hey, it’s start… right?
Like I mentioned on Monday, I spent 2 hours reading this cookbook.
Now here’s the good and the bad.
The good is that I read the book and got all excited. I made a list and Greg bought the ingredients at the store.
The bad is… I hate cooking. And while I am all excited about soaking beans and making my own baked beans from scratch, I don’t know how well I will follow through.
But hey, I never thought I’d walk half a million steps, lose 9 pounds, start using all cash or stop eating fast food, either! Hey… maybe I’m finally growing up!
